Living in University Park

University Park is one of the most established and well-located residential communities in the Sarasota–Bradenton corridor — a gated, master-planned neighborhood of roughly 1,300 homes centered around a 27-hole championship golf course. It sits just off University Parkway, minutes from UTC Mall, I-75, and the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

What sets University Park apart is its combination of a mature, beautifully landscaped setting with a location that puts everything within reach. You're equidistant between downtown Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch, close to top-rated schools, and within 20 minutes of Siesta Key and Lido Beach. It's an established community with real resale inventory — not a construction zone.

The country club & golf

The University Park Country Club features 27 holes of championship golf designed by Ron Garl, along with a clubhouse, fitness center, resort pool, tennis, and pickleball. The club transitioned to member-owned in 2021, which gave residents direct control over amenities and programming. Membership options include golf and social tiers.

Location & convenience

The location is arguably University Park's biggest selling point. UTC Mall and its dining district are minutes away. I-75 is right there. SRQ airport is under 10 minutes. Downtown Sarasota is about 20 minutes south, and Lakewood Ranch Main Street is about 15 minutes east. Siesta Key Beach is roughly 25 minutes. Few communities in the area can match this central access.

The neighborhoods & homes

University Park has 28 distinct neighborhoods within its gates, ranging from attached villas and maintenance-free homes to larger single-family estates on the golf course. Because it's a mature community (built from the 1990s through 2010s), you'll find lush landscaping, mature trees, and established HOA management — a different feel from the brand-new communities going up nearby.

Schools & who it's for

University Park is in the Manatee County school district, with well-regarded schools nearby along University Parkway. The community draws a mix of retirees, seasonal residents, families, and professionals who want a gated country-club lifestyle in a prime location without the new-construction premium.
