Country Club East at Lakewood Ranch
The golf at Country Club East is the Royal Lakes course, a Rick Robbins design from 2007, and the most important thing to know about it is that it is not a standalone club. Royal Lakes is one of the four courses at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, and playing it means holding a membership there.
That distinction is the one buyers get wrong most often at Country Club East. Living in the community does not give you the golf. The club membership is optional for homeowners and is bought separately, which is the opposite of a bundled community like Lakewood National or Esplanade at Azario a few miles away.
The residency amenities at Country Club East, the Retreat and the gates and the trails, are a separate thing from the country club, and this site is careful not to blur them. If golf is the reason you are looking at Country Club East, price the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club membership alongside the house.
