Gator Creek Golf Club
Gator Creek was founded in April 1972 and sits on about 230 acres east of Sarasota. The course is a Joe Lee design, later refined by Ron Garl, carved between native pine, oak and palm rather than routed around housing, and it plays to a par of 72 from roughly 6,200 yards forward to 7,100 at the back.
It is a traditional, understated club built for golf rather than for amenities: small well-protected greens, shifting angles, tree-lined fairways, and water in play through the middle of the round. There is no residential development wrapped around it, which is unusual here and is most of the reason the place feels the way it does.
Gator Creek publishes almost nothing publicly. Membership terms, the size of the membership and the conditions of joining are not stated by the club, and figures that circulate on golf directories are not reproduced here. If you are considering it, the club is the only reliable source.
