Greens of Manatee Golf Club

Greens of Manatee on Cortez Road is the course the county records still call Heather Hills. It opened in 1963 to a Roy Albert Anderson design, an 18-hole executive layout at a par of 61 of roughly 3,521 yards, with bent grass surfaces, tree-lined fairways and water in play on several holes.

Its history is worth knowing. In 2008 a group formed a not-for-profit to stop the course being sold for high-density housing, and in May 2010 that non-profit bought the property. Courses in this market are lost to redevelopment regularly, and this is one that was deliberately not.

Its current operating status could not be confirmed. The club website domain has lapsed and now redirects to a domain-sale listing, and at least one mapping service marks it as closing. Call before you travel, and treat anything you read about its rates, this page included, as unconfirmed.
