IMG Academy Golf Club
IMG Academy Golf Club sits on El Conquistador Parkway in Bradenton, and the name on the county records still reflects its first life: it was chartered in 1980 as the private El Conquistador country club, playing to a par of 72 over about 6,673 yards.
It is open to the public now. Gene Bates carried out a $2.5 million renovation and the course reopened in 2003 under the IMG Academy name, which is also what you would expect of a facility attached to one of the best known athlete development campuses in the country.
The practice side reflects that. The golf centre runs a double-sided driving range, putting greens, multiple target greens and a Tour Studio powered by Cool Clubs, which is a fitting operation rather than a rack of demo clubs. For a buyer who takes practice seriously and does not want to join a private club to get it, this is the strongest public option in Manatee County.
