Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch
If you are looking for Legacy Golf Club because you remember it as the Arnold Palmer Signature course you could play on a day ticket, the answer has changed. Heritage Golf Group acquired Legacy in 2024 and repositioned it as the fourth private course at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. It reopened for member play on 16 November 2024, and public play has ended.
That single transaction is what makes Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club the only 72-hole private club in the Sarasota area, alongside Cypress Links, King's Dunes and Royal Lakes. It is also why older course directories still describe the club as 54 holes and still list Legacy as daily fee. They are out of date, and a lot of them have not caught up.
The course is an Arnold Palmer Signature design playing to a par of 72 at about 7,009 yards, the figure this site already records for it against the club. It has a 12,500 square foot clubhouse and a practice facility, and Heritage replaced all of the turf grass as part of the repositioning.
For a buyer, the practical point is simple: playing Legacy now means a Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club membership, and that membership is optional rather than bundled for homeowners in the surrounding villages. Note also that Legacy Preserve in Parrish is an unrelated community with a similar name.
