Every New Restaurant That Opened in Lakewood Ranch in the Past Year
From a 120-seat sushi palace on Main Street to an Italian market at Waterside Place, Lakewood Ranch has added a wave of new dining options. Here is every confirmed opening, what closed, and what is coming next.
One of the most common questions I get from buyers relocating to Lakewood Ranch: "What is the dining scene actually like?" The honest answer a few years ago was that it was limited. That has changed dramatically. Here is every notable restaurant that opened in Lakewood Ranch over the past year, what closed, and what is on the way.
Main Street Lakewood Ranch
Main Street continues to be the social hub of the Ranch, and the restaurant lineup has gotten significantly stronger:
- Kuro Sushi (8126 Main St.) — Opened November 1, 2025. A 120-seat Japanese restaurant featuring a robata grill, sushi counter, and full bar. Described as a "21st-century sushi palace" serving a spectrum of Japanese-inspired dishes and fresh sushi.
- Peculiar Pub (8130 Main St., Suite 104) — Relocated and expanded in June 2026 into a larger space across the street (the former Twisted Pit BBQ location). Craft beer pub with an expanded menu and full bar. Open Sun-Thu 11 a.m. to midnight, Fri-Sat 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Waterside Place
Waterside Place — the walkable lakefront dining and shopping destination — has been adding tenants steadily:
- Allswell (7500 Island Cove Terrace, Unit 102) — Opened July 2025. A gastropub from owners Tory Delaney and Darren Shore with elevated bar food, specialty cocktails, and craft beer.
- Eatalia Market (1561 Lakefront Drive, Unit 100) — Opened May 17, 2025. An Italian market featuring goods imported from Italy, with fresh grab-and-go meals, wine, cheese, and meats. Chef-owner Jordan Arcari. Open Wed-Mon, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Deep Lagoon Seafood & Oyster House — Upscale casual seafood featuring Gulf hog fish, grouper, snapper, and a signature Big Chill Seafood Tower, with craft cocktails and an expansive wine list.
- Agave Bandido — Mexican restaurant and tequila bar with 200+ tequila selections, craft margaritas, and a Mayan-inspired SpeakTiki. Opened March 2024.
University Parkway corridor
The University Parkway / Center Point at Waterside area has added a notable new option:
- Flower Child (6532 University Parkway) — Opened May 13, 2025. Arizona-born fast-casual chain's first Florida location (41st nationally). Founded by James Beard Award nominee Sam Fox. A 3,500-square-foot space serving healthy bowls, wraps, and salads with dine-in and patio seating.
- Outback Steakhouse — Opened November 11, 2025 in Lakewood Ranch, bringing 120 jobs to the community.
What closed
Twisted Pit BBQ (8130 Main St., Suite 104) opened May 19, 2025 and closed Memorial Day 2026 after roughly one year. The space was taken over by the expanding Peculiar Pub. Turnover on Main Street has been low overall, but it is a reminder that restaurant success is never guaranteed even in a high-traffic location.
What this means for buyers
The dining scene was the piece that Lakewood Ranch was missing for years. Buyers from Chicago, New York, and other major metros would tour the homes and the amenities and then ask: "But where do you go at night?" Between Main Street, Waterside Place, UTC (15 minutes west), and the new entertainment district coming together on Professional Parkway, that question has a much better answer than it did even two years ago.
If you are weighing Lakewood Ranch against other areas and want to understand how the dining and lifestyle picture compares, reach out. I live and work in this market every day.
