Lakewood Ranch Gets a New Publix and Shopping Center on SR 64 — Northchase Is Open
The first Publix at the new Northchase Shopping Center on State Road 64 and Uihlein Road opened June 11, 2026. Here is what else is coming to this new retail corridor serving eastern Lakewood Ranch.
If you live in eastern Lakewood Ranch — or you are considering a home in the Ranch's newest villages — you no longer have to drive all the way to University Parkway for groceries. The first Publix at the new Northchase Shopping Center opened on June 11, 2026, and more retail is on the way.
Publix at Northchase: the anchor tenant
The new Publix sits at the southwest corner of State Road 64 and Uihlein Road (16642 State Road 64 E). It is the first business to open at Northchase Shopping Center, which spans about 15 acres across five commercial lots. The store features the full Publix experience: deli, produce, bakery, meat and seafood departments, plus made-to-order burritos, nachos, bowls, pizzas, and pastas. It also includes a pharmacy, liquor store, and bar.
For residents of the eastern and northern Ranch villages — Country Club East, the Country Club neighborhoods, Savanna, Sapphire Point, and the newer communities north of SR 64 — this is a significant convenience upgrade. Previously, the closest Publix options were on University Parkway or Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
What else is coming to Northchase
Three outparcels fronting SR 64 are already under development:
- McDonald's — signage is already up
- Chipotle Mexican Grill — construction has begun, featuring a "Chipotlane" (drive-thru for app orders)
- Chase Bank — occupying the third outparcel
- Heartland Dental — being built behind Publix, fronting Uihlein Road
Why this matters for home values
Retail infrastructure follows residential growth, and when it arrives, it makes the neighborhoods around it more convenient and more desirable. The eastern side of Lakewood Ranch has been building out residential communities faster than commercial services could keep up. Northchase is the first major retail node in this corridor.
For buyers considering homes in the eastern and northern villages of Lakewood Ranch, this new shopping center eliminates one of the few practical downsides that came up in conversations: "Everything is a 15-minute drive." That is less true now, and will be even less true as Northchase fills out.
